James J. Chae is an associate in the firm’s Newport Beach office. Mr. Chae practices in the areas of complex civil litigation, regulatory and compliance issues with foreign and domestic manufacturers and distributors at both federal and state levels. Mr. Chae’s practice focuses on automotive litigation defense, as well as advising automotive manufacturers regarding government regulatory and safety matters.
Prior to joining LHDK&W, Mr. Chae developed his litigation skills defending large insurance carriers, self-insured employers, and school districts in workers’ compensation litigation, including motion practice, oral advocacy, depositions, written discovery, negotiations, and trial preparation.
Mr. Chae received his Juris Doctor in 2014 from UC Davis School of Law where he was Managing Editor of the UC Davis Law Review. During law school, Mr. Chae completed externships as a legal intern in the Office of Governor Edmund G Brown, Jr. and as the Chancellor’s Legal Fellow at the Office of the Campus Counsel, UC Davis. Mr. Chae also served as Research Assistant for Dean and Professor of Law Kevin R. Johnson and President of the Korean American Law Students Association.
Mr. Chae is admitted to practice law in the state of California and the United States District Court, Central District of California.
