Drewry Cooper is a solicitor based in LHDK&W’s London office and practices in the area of shipping law and international arbitration and dispute resolution . He has experience in dispute resolution; both court work and international arbitration. He also undertakes transactional work involving shipbuilding and offshore projects.

Mr. Cooper’s practice includes representing shipbuilding clients and advising on issues involving ship sale and purchase, financing and a range of legal issues involving aspects of vessel construction. He has handled offshore building contracts and tug towage contracts. He has also handled broker commission disputes.

Mr. Cooper has represented clients in wet and dry shipping disputes.  On the wet side, he has dealt with collisions, groundings and claims under general average. On the dry side, he has handled claims involving all aspects of time and voyage charterparties. He has a good knowledge of the practical issues surrounding cargo claims, including negotiation of security and collection of evidence. He also advises on the international sale of goods.

Mr. Cooper is qualified to practise as a solicitor in England and Wales. He has represented ship builders, ship owners, charterers and their P&I Clubs in LMAA arbitration and in the High Court in London.

Prior to joining LHDK&W, Mr. Cooper worked at Hill Dickinson LLP for three years.  Prior to that, he worked at another Legal 500-rated shipping firm in the City of London.

Mr. Cooper completed his Legal Practice Course at the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice in 2006.  He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin in 2005, where he studied law.  As part of his degree, he spent one year at Katholieke Universiteit, Leuven, in Belgium, where he studied shipping law.

Mr. Cooper is a keen sailor. He is a member of Howth Yacht Club, Dublin.
